Course Embedded Reflection

This course has been very interesting. Probably the most interesting part of this course was learning about the principals of graphic design. I had never really put much thought to where on the page I put something or if anything was repeated. I really have started reevaluating even my PowerPoint presentations that I make for my students. I find myself thinking C.R.A.P. (Williams, 2012) Because of this course; I have recently designed my own business cards using the principals of design. I used many of the topics we talked about in self-branding (Alcantara, 2009) I found myself stopping to tell people I worked with about the principals and even made them give me adjectives about myself to use. It came up in everyday conversations. Because of that I knew that I would use this in the future.

I wish that I had spent more time learning about animation. I am afraid I felt rushed and was unfamiliar with animation and I will not be able to use it properly and efficiently in the future. There was not enough guided learning in this for me to be able to use it well. It did not help that the week we were learning it I had a conference at NASA and computer issues. The way I went about doing it did not work well.

Website Design intrigues me more than any other topic we have learned. We have very useless web pages through our schools email service. I refuse to waste my time using it. Google Sites website changed my mind. I found myself wanting to start a webpage designed for my class. It is much simpler to use. The students could even make games or design and manage a website based on what they have learned. I am considering adding this into my curriculum f or my Research and Design. My students would love having the ability to create and maintain their own site. Using multimedia in classroom increases a students learning potential.(BrainPop, 2008) Student creating and maintaining their own website increase their learning potential as well as the potential of others.

Final week 5 Blog

Wow, this has been a whirl wind of a course. Probably one of the most difficult for me. It was not because of the material covered, just the time at which we covered the material. Christmas time for a teacher and mother is extremely busy. Getting my schedule to correlate with that of three others at this time of year was near impossible. However, we did it. We were able to collaborate with each other. I have learned how to effectively use Google Documents. We were able to share on facebook many of our ideas. And lost but not least I learned how effectively use iMovie and Audacity. I am still a fan of all of the services that iMovie has to offer even over the Audacity software that we used for audio. iMovie seems to have it all. I have not spent much time on a PC version of any of this. I, however, would like to work on that aspect in the near future.
